As writers we spend a lot of time in the seat. Why do we write? I had a wonderful week with a dear friend of mine from California, also a writer, and we spent time discussing this question. After she went back to LA, she sent me these two links:

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/psychology-yesterday/201802/why-do-writers-write

and…

https://writingcooperative.com/7-reasons-why-writers-write-and-you-should-too-900262b455b

both these articles explore the psychological and practical reasons for writing fiction. I suspect it’s a different mix of these things for each writer. Why do you write? Explore this with writing. It’s important to know.

I have stories in me that want to get out and I want to make meaningful connection with people through my writing. It helps to have writing friends who understand this and who we can talk to about these things. These are our ‘people.’ They get why we do it and that helps a lot. Thanks, Deirdre. 🙂
