Life Lessons was selected from 40,000 entries in the Great American Fiction contest and published in The Saturday Evening Post’s Best American Fiction of 2015 with an honourable mention.

This story is autobiographical and examines my earliest experiences of writing stories, getting rejections and the role of personal role models along the way in finding your writing life. A funny and candid look at the contradictions of being a writer.

This story got Honourable Mention in the Mainstream/Literary Short Story category of the 92nd Annual Writer’s Digest Writing Competition (2023).
